What is the AR-CADE Challenge?

The AR-CADE Challenge is an augmented reality creation competition hosted by Niantic and Loak. Creators can submit Unity projects that leverage Lightship ARDK to win cash prizes. This Challenge is happening remotely from April 24th, 2023 to May 21st, 2023.

Who can participate in the AR-CADE Challenge?

Anyone, from individuals to entire studios, can submit experiences to the AR-CADE Challenge! However, in order to be eligible to win a prize, you must meet some criteria (see queston below)

Who is eligible to win a prize?

In order to be eligible to win a cash prize, you must be 18 and older. Employees of Loak and Niantic are not eligible to win prizes. See our Terms and Conditions for more details.

Does it cost or require anything to participate?

Entry into the competition is FREE!

How does the evaluation process work?

Loak will build and review submissions on a rolling basis and evaluate the experience based on originality, fun, creativity, and quality. Though we build and test every submission on-device, it is highly recomended that you upload and include a video link with the Loak Submissions README

How will my submission be used by Loak?

Loak will onboard eligible submissions to the Loak app for our competition showcase. Creators maintain full ownership and control of what they build, and can opt-out of the comptetion showcase at any time by contacting Loak.

What asssets can my submission include?

You are permitted to use complimentary resources or those with a royalty-free, non-commercial license as part of your submission. Your project must not contain any third-party pre-existing copyrighted materials or stock images. No other individual or organization should hold any rights to the submitted entry.
